New Broncos Running Back To Be Inactive For Thursday Night Football

The Denver Broncos lost starting running back Javonte Williams for the season in a Week 4 loss, and with Melvin Gordon the only established replacement on the roster, the team sought out the Saints practice squad and former star Latavius Murray to fill the hole left by Williams. Murray, a 10-year veteran in the NFL is a solid replacement, as he's had over 500 yards in every season but his rookie year at the NFL level, but unfortunately, he won't be available for Denver's clash with the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday Night Football.

Given that Murray had to return from London, then get to Denver to get acclimated with his new team and system, the four day turnaround was just too much, so that leaves Gordon and Mike Boone as the Broncos two backs for this crucial matchup, as the team look to get back over .500 on the season.

Murray made his 2022 season debut a week ago for the Saints, where he carried the ball 11 times for 57 yards and a Touchdown, and if he can continue getting the ball at a steady rate, he could form a great combination with Gordon. The news of Williams loss will still be hard to swallow for Denver, but with two veterans in the backfield, if Russell Wilson can get back to his old form, this could still be a very tough team to beat.
