Jets Rookie Gets Carted Off In Second Quarter

The New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers are battling it out in Week 4, with just four points separating them at the half, but the biggest news for New York was yet another injury to the tackle position, as promising rookie Max Mitchell was carted off with an apparent knee injury. This devastating injury comes after the team lost Mekhi Becton, Duane Brown and George Fant within the space of the last six weeks, and at this point in time, the Jets are struggling to have a body at the tackle position.

As for Mitchell, this injury could spell the end for a rookie season that was looking so promising, as the fourth round pick wasn't expected to play in 2022, but ended up starting from Week 1, putting in three very solid performances thus far. Sure, there's been growing pains, but Mitchell has been more than solid for this Jets team, and now we just await the news of the severity of this injury.

To lose yet another tackle for the Jets would be an injury crisis at one position like few we've ever seen in NFL history, and for a young team full of potential who are trying to find out what they have at QB in Zach Wilson, this is more awful news.
