Jets Receiver Officially Asks Team For A Trade
The New York Jets and their fans were over the moon after they rattled off their third straight win by walking into Lambeau Field and dominating the Packers, but one player wasn't too thrilled, and that was Elijah Moore, the 2021 second-round pick who was targeted just once in the dominant victory, where Zach Wilson completed just 10 passes on the day. Following the game, Moore took to Twitter to voice his displeasure after a lack of game planning around him, and today, Jets Head Coach Robert Saleh gave Moore a personal day, and plenty of people read into exactly what that meant.
While some reporters denied it, NFL Insider Ian Rapoport officially reported that the young receiver, full of potential, had asked the Jets to trade him after a lack of targets, but with him being a key piece to this offence, they unequivocally told him that they wouldn't be granting his request at this time. He flashed greatness at points during his rookie year, catching 43 balls for 543 yards and 5 Touchdowns in limited action due to injury, but with a lethal running back combo, the team hasn't targeted him as much in 2022.Sources: #Jets WR Elijah Moore, frustrated with his role and usage, has asked for a trade. Moore still has 16 catches for 203 yards, but with the emphasis on getting the running game going, he just isn't getting the attention he feels he deserves, and this is a situation that could turn volatile at any time in New York. The second-year receiver is still under contract, for several more years, so the team have all the leverage, but for right now, it will be quite interesting to see how the team game plan to get him the ball as they look to win four straight when they battle the Broncos on Sunday.
