Commanders Superstar Pass Rusher Won't Return in Week 5
Chase Young “trending in right direction” but he won’t be taken off IR this week. Rivera says “needs more time” #halloweenvibes

Young was eligible to be activated for Week 5 due to being placed on IR following the 53-man roster cutdown preceding Week 1. Young is still recovering from an ACL tear suffered in Week 10 of the 2021 season.
The league allows a 21-day practice window before teams are obligated to roster a player following a stint on IR. The fact that the Commanders have declined to begin the window indicates Young may not be all that close to game action.
A #ProBowl selection in his rookie season.

Young joined the Commanders as the second overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft following a stellar three-year career at Ohio State that saw him notch 30.5 sacks and 40.5 tackles for loss. The edge rusher rewarded Washington with a Pro Bowl in his rookie year and even sparked the defense to its first top-five scoring finish since 2004. When he's finally ready to play, he'll hope to turn around a unit that has allowed the fourth-most points in the league through the first four weeks of the regular season.
