Commanders Head Coach Shoots Down Trade Rumors
Earlier today, reports came out that the Washington Commanders were receiving and listening to calls on their backup running back Antonio Gibson, but now, Head Coach Ron Rivera has come out and strongly shut down those rumours.
During a media session today, according to reports, Rivera walked in and the first thing out of his mouth was "we have no intention of trading Antonio Gibson", and added later that he was disappointed he had to shut down rumours that obviously weren't true. Gibson and rookie star Brian Robinson make for a fantastic 1-2 combo in the backfield, and despite their record and unlikeliness to appear in the 2022 playoffs, this team like this combination for the future.
Gibson has over 400 all purpose yards through 8 weeks of the 2022 NFL season, adding 3 Touchdown's as well, and given their record right now, many believed he would be a great trade candidate. It appears now that nothing will come of the interest, and that Washington believe they can build the future of this offence around a more than solid backfield pairing.Ron Rivera walked into the media room and immediately said: "We have no intention of moving Antonio Gibson."
