Chargers Pro Bowl Wide Receiver Out For Week 5

The Los Angeles Chargers will be without one of their leaders and stars on offense for their Week 5 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Wide receiver Keenan Allen missed his third straight practice on Friday and was declared out on the team's final injury report. Allen has missed the Chargers' past three games due to a hamstring injury suffered during the team's Week 1 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The fact that he avoided injured reserve indicates he was expected to be recovered within four weeks, but hamstring injuries can be fickle and unpredictable. Sunday will be his fourth missed game.

In Allen's absence, the Chargers have lost two of three games, including a crucial divisional game against the Kansas City Chiefs. They've missed his reliable underneath presence, ranking 12th in scoring through four weeks after finishing fifth in 2021.
Allen has been one of the league's most consistent and dependable wide receivers since joining the Chargers as their 76th overall draft pick in 2013. The five-time Pro Bowler has compiled 734 receptions, 8601 receiving yards, and 48 receiving touchdowns over his 117 appearances with the team. When he finally returns, he should thrust the Chargers offense back into elite status.
