Buccaneers Fear For Star Pass Rusher's 2022 Season

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were defeated at home by the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football, in a good, but injury filled game, and while it was the Ravens who saw plenty of starters leave the field, Tampa began the game under-manned, and may have just gotten drastically worse. Shaq Barrett, the Buccaneers star linebacker left the game in the third quarter, and was quickly ruled out, leading to fears that it was a major injury.

That injury was confirmed to be an achilles injury, which Barrett will have an MRI on in the coming hours, and while nothing is confirmed yet, "there is a real concern that he tore it" was the sentiment in the locker room and among the coaching staff following the loss that sent Tampa Bay to 3-5 on the season.

The 29-year old has been a genuine leader of this defensive unit since arriving back in 2019, and he has racked up 30.5 sacks for this team since, and if they were to lose him, it would be a devastating blow for their season. The MRI could show something completely different tomorrow, but right now, it appears that it's at least going to be an injury which will need the Injured Reserve, the last thing a struggling Buccaneers team needed during a massive loss such as this.
