49ers Sign Defensive Tackle
The San Francisco 49ers are attempting to mitigate a couple of frustrating injuries by adding depth to their defensive line. The team signed defensive tackle T.Y. McGill on Tuesday.
McGill joins a 49ers team dealing with injuries to key interior defensive linemen Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw. Both are starters for the team. The 49ers signed veteran nose tackle T.Y. McGill after a workout today. McGill will obviously help insulate the interior D-line that’s still missing Arik Armstead and Javon Kinlaw

Armstead is a long-time veteran for the team and one of its highest-paid players. He has missed two of the past three games with a foot injury after starting an amazing 67 consecutive games since 2018.
Kinlaw was the team's 14th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft and has been unavailable the past two weeks because of an ailing knee. He had been slotted for major snaps this year following a disappointing four-game campaign in 2021.

McGill entered the league as an undrafted free agent, initially finding playing time with the Colts in 2015. He has appeared 46 games for five separate teams, notching 5.5 sacks.
