Pro Bowl Game to Be Replaced With Weeklong Series of Competitions
The Pro Bowl is no more. According to the Associated Press, the NFL will do away with its All-Star game in favor of a week-long series of events that will include skills competitions and a flag football game.
The allegedly full-contact Pro Bowl game has been little more than a half-hearted exhibition of the NFL's elite for decades now. The league has experimented with more creative, less classically structured skills displays in the past, including an entertaining Best Catch competition preceding the 2021 game. If the NFL can generate more interest from fans and more engagement from players with similarly wacky events, it could be a win-win for all parties involved.
Peyton Manning and his Omaha Productions company will assist in the design of the events and promotion throughout the week. Manning will also coach the flag football game. The newly dubbed "The Pro Bowl Games" will take place in Las Vegas over several days, culminating with the flag football game on Feb. 5.The Pro Bowl game is no longer, as the NFL is replacing the game with the first ever "Pro Bowl games" featuring a weeklong skills competition and flag football game.
