Packers Place Wide Receiver On Injured Reserve

The Green Bay Packers yesterday announced that one of their top wide receivers, Sammy Watkins, would be out for their upcoming battle with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and today, the team had to make the decision to place him on Injured Reserve, meaning Aaron Rodgers will be down one of his top weapons for at least a month.

Beyond that, the team yesterday marked Christian Watson, Allan Lazard and Randall Cobb as questionable, meaning that Rodgers could potentially be without all his weapons for the heavyweight clash with Tampa Bay. It's more likely than not that at least two of those names play, but without Watkins, there's very little room for injuries on this depth chart, a talking point all off-season regarding the lack of weapons available to the back-to-back MVP.

Over his career, Watkins has tallied over 5,000 receiving yards and 34 Touchdown's, and he was having a solid start to 2022, with 6 catches for 111 yards over the teams first two games, but will now have to watch from the sidelines for a month. This has been a theme for Sammy throughout his career, as he's appeared in all his teams games just once, in his rookie campaign, but if he can get healthy before the playoffs, he'll bring plenty of skill and experience to a Packers wide receiver room that desperately needs it.
