NFL Week 2 Wide Receivers: 3 Stars
The wide receiver position is one of the most exciting in the NFL, and at this point, there may be the most top level talent in the position than at any point in the history of the league, and through the first two weeks of the 2022 NFL season. Some surprise names stepped up and showed why they could be considered the best in the league, and young players have begun making their name, but among all of the performances in Week 2, these are the ones that stand out among the rest.
Honorable Mentions: Garrett Wilson, Mike Williams, Cooper Kupp, Nelson Agholor, Jaylen Waddle.
3. Amon Ra St. Brown
Stat Line: 9 Catches, 116 Yards, 2 Touchdowns, 2 Carries, 68 Yards.
Amon Ra St. Brown had a fantastic year in 2021, and many saw him as a breakout candidate in 2022, and through two weeks, he's on pace to solidify himself as one of the best wide receivers in the entire league. That continued in a Week 2 victory over Washington, as he put up almost 200 all purpose yards with 2 scores, and as this Detroit Lions team continues to grow over the coming year, St. Brown has the chance to become an absolute superstar behind performances like this.
2. Tyreek Hill
Stat Line: 11 Catches, 190 Yards, 2 Touchdowns.
Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and the Dolphins put up insane numbers in Week 2, with Tua Tagovailoa earning the No. 1 spot for Quarterbacks, but that can't be done without a dominant No. 1 wide receiver like Hill. Both men were outstanding, but it was Hill that made the biggest impact, with almost 200 yards and 2 scores, and if the Dolphins can keep getting this production out of their top two receivers, Tua should take the next step and Miami should be considered a genuine playoff threat.
1. Stefon Diggs
Stat Line: 12 Catches, 148 Yards, 3 Touchdowns.
The Buffalo Bills came into their Week 2 matchup against the Titans with plenty of momentum, and after a dominant performance in Week 1, they backed it up to decimate Tennessee 41-7, and in the process, Josh Allen and his favourite target were back to their old tricks. The two combined to give Stefon Diggs 12 catches for 148 yards and 3 scores, and by so doing, have Buffalo looking like the clear Super Bowl favourite in 2022.
