NFL Week 2 Running Backs: 3 Stars
Running back is one of the most important positions in the NFL, and unfortunately this week, we saw some of the games biggest and brightest stars at running back struggle to make an impact, and it had dire effects on the teams results. There were some names who stepped up in a big way, and although they may not represent the best backs in the league, in Week 2, these names certainly stood up above all others around the NFL.
3. Christian McCaffrey
Stat line: 15 carries, 102 yards, 0 Touchdowns, 4 catches, 26 yards.
Many eyes were on Christian McCaffrey ahead of the 2022 season, as the former star running back has struggled to stay healthy over the past two seasons, but if two weeks are anything to go by, the Panthers back's prime should still be ahead of him. He didn't find the end zone in Week 2, but had a good all around performance, and if he can continue with the effort he showed, there's no reason why he can't bounce back and take home Comeback Player of the Year in 2022.
2. Aaron Jones
Stat line: 15 carries, 132 yards, 1 Touchdown, 3 catches, 38 yards, 1 Touchdown.
Much was made this off-season about the lack of weapons that Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers kicked 2022 off with, but after a slow start in Week 1, Aaron Jones reminded everyone that wide receivers aren't the only weapons in a dominant offence. Jones showed that he's still one of the best two-way running backs in the NFL, and if he can continue at this pace, the Packers will once again be a dominant heavyweight in the NFC in 2022.
1. Nick Chubb
Stat line: 17 carries, 87 yards, 3 Touchdowns, 3 catches, 26 yards.
The Cleveland Browns may have faltered and squandered a 13-point lead with 1:55 left in the game against the New York Jets, but one thing that can't be disputed is that Nick Chubb has shown once again why he may be the best back in the NFL. Time and time again, Chubb used his incredible strength and powerful running to go right through the Jets defence, and even if there are questions about his decision to not go down in the final TD run, the game he put together overall was absolutely fantastic.
