NFL Rumors: Dak Prescott Could Be Back Sooner Than Expected
The Dallas Cowboys had a disastrous showing on Sunday Night Football, and quarterback Dak Prescott injuring his thumb in the fourth quarter was the worst of it. Initial projections had the star missing six games, but Cowboys owner Jerry Jones shared a shocking bit of optimism on 1053 The Fan: he thinks Prescott can come back in under four weeks:
Jerry Jones on @1053thefan said Dak Prescott (thumb) won’t be going on injured reserve. He thinks Prescott could play within the next four games

Prescott avoiding injured reserve and the four missed games it necessitates would have to be considered a huge win for the Cowboys. With games against the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, and Los Angeles Rams in the coming weeks, the Cowboys will need Prescott back as soon as possible to avoid falling into an early hole in the NFC.

Prescott injured his thumb late in the team's season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the game already well out of hand. He'd struggled all night, completing 14 passes for a paltry 121 net yards and an interception. Still, if the Cowboys want to overcome their offensive line injuries and offseason wide receiver departures, a healthy Prescott at quarterback sooner than later will be their best chance to do it.
