NFL Rumors: Bills Could Be Short Two Defensive Tackles Against Titans in Week 2
The Buffalo Bills could be short a couple of key big bodies on the defensive line when the Tennessee Titans come to town on Monday Night Football in Week 2. According to Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio, defensive tackles Ed Oliver and Tim Settle were absent at practice for the second straight day:
Oliver arrived with the Bills as the ninth overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has appeared in every game since his rookie season, tallying 12 sacks and 41 starts over that span. Meanwhile, Settle served as a valuable rotational defensive lineman for the Commanders since being drafted 163rd overall in 2018. His best work came in 2020 when he tallied a career-high five sacks. He joined the Bills this offseason on a two-year, $9 million deal.
Oliver is suffering from a knee injury, and Settle was held out with a calf injury. Should they both miss time, the Bills defensive line rotation could be stretched pretty thin; Daquan Jones and Jordan Phillips are the only other defensive tackles on the roster. With the league's premier power back Derrick Henry leading the Titans against the Bills in Week 2, it's a bad time to be shorthanded in the trenches.Once again on Thursday, Bills defensive tackles Ed Oliver and Tim Settle did not participate in the media-open portion of practice. Neither did cornerback Dane Jackson. Here's more, with some video, as well: https://t.co/EzP37myvPO via @WGR550
