NFL Rumors: 3 Potential Replacements For Mac Jones
The New England Patriots are in DEEP trouble. After starting the season with an underwhelming 1-2 record, Mac Jones is expected to miss multiple games with a "severe ankle sprain." Given their desperation to get things back on track, they should consider getting a quarterback elsewhere instead of rolling with career-backup Brian Hoyer for the next several weeks. Here are three potential options.
Cam Newton: Could a reunion between Cam Newton and the Patriots be in the works? He would be an upgrade over Hoyer and could steal some games for New England. During his one season as their starter, he had a 7-8 record as their starter, while throwing eight touchdowns. He is the best free-agent QB available, so speculation will naturally be there.
Mason Rudolph: Mason Rudolph is currently a backup on the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a result, his name has come up in the rumor mill, and he could be a decent option for the Patriots. In 17 career games, he has thrown 16 touchdowns and 2,366 yards.
Sam Darnold: Sam Darnold is inching closer to returning, but he still needs a little more time before getting back into game action. Yet, even if the Patriots had to wait a little bit to get him, he could work well once healthy. In 50 career games, he has thrown 54 touchdowns and 10,624 yards.
