NFL Rumors: 3 Potential Replacements For Dak Prescott
Week 1 was simply horrible for the Dallas Cowboys. Not only did they lose 19-3 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but they also will be without Dak Prescott for the next 6-to-8 weeks, as he needs to get thumb surgery. With the Cowboys having Super Bowl aspirations, they need to get a new QB immediately if they hope to compete for a playoff spot. Let's look at some potential replacements that could make sense.
Jimmy Garoppolo: Jimmy Garoppolo is the best QB still available on the trading block, and he should be the Cowboys' primary target if they hope to remain competitive while Prescott is out. The 30-year-old is currently backup to Trey Lance on the San Francisco 49ers and would benefit from a trade. He is meant to be a starter and could be a very good short-term option for Dallas.

Cam Newton: Cam Newton is the best free-agent quarterback available, so he could make sense for the Cowboys. His days as a Pro Bowl-caliber QB are long gone, but he could be a serviceable option to use with Prescott out.
Mason Rudolph: Mason Rudolph's name has come up in the rumor mill, so perhaps the Cowboys could make a push for him. Mitchell Trubisky won for the Steelers in Week 1 and looked solid in the process. This could make the Steelers more open to moving Rudolph, so view him as a dark horse target for Dallas.
