NFL Rumors: 3 Potential Landing Spots For Cam Newton
As we head into Week 2 of the NFL season, Cam Newton is still a free agent and looking for his next home. Yet, given all that has transpired in Week 1, it seems that things could change on that front shortly. Here are three potential landing spots for the 33-year-old quarterback.
Dallas Cowboys: The Dallas Cowboys seem like the perfect spot for Newton to end up. With Dak Prescott out for the next six-to-eight weeks due to thumb surgery, the Cowboys need a quarterback to fill in. Newton could be a decent short-term option for them to try to stay afloat, as he comes with a lot of experience and is a former Pro Bowler.
New England Patriots: A reunion between the Patriots and Newton could also make sense. Patriots QB Mac Jones had an injury scare in Week 1, and although his MRI results came back negative, there's no guarantee that he will be good to go for Week 2. If not, the Patriots may want to consider the prospect of signing Newton, as they run the risk of going 0-2 to start the year. Newton would be an upgrade at the backup position over Brian Hoyer.

Atlanta Falcons: The Atlanta Falcons are currently running with a career backup in Marcus Mariota as their starting quarterback, so maybe they could see Newton as a potential upgrade. At worst, he would provide more competition at the position.
