New England Patriots Sign 3-Time Super Bowl Champion Marcus Cannon
The New England Patriots have signed a familiar face to their practice squad. ESPN's Field Yates announced the team has signed offensive lineman Marcus Cannon:
Initially a fifth-round pick of the Patriots in 2011, Cannon clawed his way to prolonged success in the league despite a pre-draft diagnosis of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. Weighing in at a gargantuan 6-5 and 358 pounds at the NFL combine, Cannon proved a strong run blocker and competent pass blocker across his nine seasons with the Patriots. He played a pivotal role on an offense that finished top five in scoring for nine straight years and won five AFC Championships to go along with three Super Bowls. He'll likely provide depth to the Patriots offensive line and should be called up quickly in case of injury to starters Trent Brown or Isaiah Wynn.
Update: the Patriots will be signing veteran OT Marcus Cannon to the practice squad, per source.

Marcus Cannon won three Super Bowl championships with the Patriots, appearing in 115 games for the team across his first nine seasons. He was in and out of the starting lineup until 2016 when he took over the right tackle position full-time. He was eventually traded to the Houston Texans before the 2021 season. He now finds his way back to the Patriots after being released by the Texans in March.
