Los Angeles Rams Place Running Back on Injured Reserve
The Los Angeles Rams will be without their promising rookie running back for at least four weeks. NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero announced today the team placed Kyren Williams on injured reserve:
The move comes following an injury during the Rams' Week 1 beatdown at the hands of the Buffalo Bills. His absence likely means running backs Cam Akers and Darrell Henderson Jr. will continue to dominate touches for the Rams. The duo combined for an ugly 47 yards on 16 carries against the Bills. The #Rams placed RB Kyren Williams on injured reserve and signed veteran long snapper Matt Overton.

Williams was taken 164th overall in this year's NFL Draft out of Notre Dame. He profiled as a small multi-purpose runner who could add value as a pass catcher out of the backfield, drawing comparisons to former New England Patriots James White and Dion Lewis. If he recovers quickly, it's possible he eventually sees time on third-down for the Rams; neither Akers or Henderson registered a single target in Week 1.
