Houston Texans Starting Center Declared Out for Week 2
The Houston Texans will be short one of their veteran leaders along the offensive line for their Week 2 clash against the Denver Broncos. Head Coach Lovie Smith revealed during his Friday media availability that center Justin Britt would miss the game for "personal reasons."
Britt entered the league as the 64th overall pick of the Seattle Seahawks in the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent his first six years in the league with the Seahawks, starting 86 of a possible 96 games. He missed all of the 2020 season recuperating from a torn ACL, but returned to action with the Houston Texans in 2021, starting 11 games. He signed a two-year, $9 million deal to remain with the team earlier this offseason.

Britt played 100% of the offensive snaps in the Texans' Week 1 tie against the Indianapolis Colts. Offensive lineman Scott Quessenberry will likely take over at the pivot while Britt sorts through his troubles. The team appears to be respecting his privacy at this time.
