Houston Texans Release Veteran Running Back
The Houston Texans are expected to be one of the worst teams in the NFL in 2022, but one silver lining is that from pre-season, they seem to have found a diamond in the rough with Dameon Pierce, a fourth round pick from the 2022 class, who has emerged as one of the most exciting players in the AFC South, and certainly the one with the most potential in Houston. Sure, they've got Derick Stingley Jr. and Davis Mills, who both figure to be a huge part of this organization going forward, but Pierce has shown flashes throughout the pre-season of being an elite playmaker, and only time will tell if that continues through the regular season with more touches and more responsibility.
It's because of this that the Texans have seemingly moved on from veteran Marlon Mack for the second time this off-season, as the former Colt re-signed with the teams practice squad after releasing him from the 53-man roster when the first round of team cuts began. With 3 other veterans beside Pierce on the active roster, there was just no reason to keep another veteran like Mack around, and after being a key piece in the Colts running back committee over the past few years and succeeding in that role, it's safe to say he should be able to find another job somewhere. It has been a crazy week for veterans Marlon Mack (RB) and Chris Conley (WR) on the Texans ever evolving roster. Both have been cut multiple times and re-signed since last Tuesday. On Monday, Mack was cut from the practice squad and Conley took his place. @defendernetwork

The 26-year old has put up almost 2,500 yards and 20 Touchdown's over his 5 seasons in the NFL, and while it's unlikely that he finds a starting spot somewhere in the NFL, he may play a key role for a playoff team somewhere in 2022.
