Dallas Cowboys Lose Offensive Lineman
The Dallas Cowboys will be short yet another offensive lineman for the remainder of their Sunday Night Football game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Starting guard Connor McGovern left the field early in the contest, hobbled by an ankle injury.
McGovern was the 90th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has started 14 games for the Cowboys since entering the league, posting a career-high grade of 68.7 from Pro Football Focus in 2021. The Cowboys have struggled on offense since his departure, failing to score since an opening-drive field goal. They may need to scour the free agent market for some reinforcement in the trenches.
Cowboys LG Connor McGovern (ankle) appears to be done for the night. Looks like it will be Matt Farniok at left guard the rest of the game

The Cowboys have already suffered a major injury in the trenches so far this year; eight-time Pro Bowler Tyron Smith is expected to miss most of the season. Should McGovern not be able to return, the Cowboys' depth will be stretched even thinner. His replacement Matt Farniok was a seventh-round draft pick in 2021 who has yet to start a game.
