Cardinals Place McCoy on IR, Sign McSorley to 53-Man Roster

The Arizona Cardinals announced on Wednesday that they have placed back up quarterback Colt McCoy on the injured reserve list. He recently sustained a calf injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport and will need time to recover.

In his stead, the Cardinals signed Trace McSorley from their practice squad to their 53-man roster. The signal-caller depth chart will now include Kyler Murray and McSorley. The club also recently signed Jarrett Guarantano to the team's practice squad.

McCoy was drafted as a third-rounder by the Cleveland Browns in 2018 and has started 33 career games. The 36-year-old has played for five teams including; the Browns, San Francisco 49ers, five seasons with the Washington Commanders, the New York Giants, and recently the Cardinals after signing with them in 2021.
