Thomas suffered a knee injury last fall and the team has yet to say if he'll be ready to play by week one.
Regardless, coming off the PUP several weeks before the start of the season is a very positive sign. Thomas was one of the best tight ends in the league back in 2020, when he was fully healthy.

If Thomas isn't fully ready in September, John Bates will likely be the primary tight end. However, barring any setbacks, Thomas should be fully healthy and ready for a full workload sometime in September. He figures to be among the primary options in Washingtons passing offense, along with Terry McLaurin and Jahan Dotson.
