San Francisco 49ers Release Pass Rusher
The San Francisco 49ers are giving up on a recent free agent addition. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports the team is releasing edge rusher Kemoko Turay:
The 49ers are releasing DE Kemoko Turay, per source. Turay had 5.5 sacks for the Colts last year, five-year veteran.

Turay joined the 49ers after playing the past four years with the Indianapolis Colts. Drafted 52nd overall in the 2017 draft, Turay was never a full-time starter for the Colts, but he proved an effective pass rusher on limited opportunities last year, notching 5.5 sacks on only 224 snaps.

The 49ers likely hoped Turay could provide a boost to a deep defensive line that includes stars Nick Bosa and Arik Amstead, but the team must have liked other players better at edge rusher. According to overthecap.com, the 49ers only clear $700,000 in cap space by cutting the veteran.
