NFL Rumors: Saints Trade DB To Eagles
The New Orleans Saints are trading defensive back Chauncy Gardner-Johnson to the Philadelphia Eagles, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Gardner-Johnson was in midst of a contract year and due to talks breaking down, along with the massive depth the Saints already have within their secondary, he would likely have not been signed after this season, Rapoport adds.
The trade terms are below, via ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The 24-year-old safety is looking to bolster a Philadelphia secondary that contains the likes of Darius Slay at corner, Marcus Epps (S). and K'Von Wallace (S).
As recently as today, the Eagles released their safety Anthony Harris, who started 15 games for Philly last season, according to ProFootballTalk which made more sense to add a back like Gardner-Johnson.Gardner-Johnson spent three seasons on the Saints after being drafted by them in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. In his short career so far, he has compiled 161 tackles (32 solo and 14 assisted), five interceptions, and started in 31 out of 43 total games.Chauncey Gardner-Johnson’s agent, Kevin Conner of @UniSportsMgmt, confirmed the trade to the #Eagles.

In Philadelphia, Gardner-Johnson is expected to be a full-time safety – a position that’s become far more lucrative than the nickel spot he often played in New Orleans.
The league wide deadline for 53-man roster trims is 4 p.m. ET.
