NFL Season Preview: Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins have been stuck in no mans land for a few years now, but after acquiring a few weapons for their young Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, they believe that they're ready to take the next step and compete in 2022. While that may be a reachable goal this year, there will be plenty of obstacles that stand in their way, so if Dolphins fans are confident ahead of this upcoming season, they better also be very cautious with that optimism.
Positives
The Dolphins possess one of the NFL's best defensive units, as well as three fantastic weapons in Tyreek Hill, Mike Gesicki and Jaylen Waddle, meaning that even if the team goes down a few times this year, they'll always be making their opponents work as hard as they can for it. Due to this, they'll be able to manage themselves against teams that they're supposed to beat, and with so many weapons, being competitive in every game will allow them a great shot at the 2022 postseason.
Negatives
While the Dolphins have plenty of vertical threats on this talented roster, their Quarterback is still very much unproven, and until Tua can stand in the pocket and deliver consistently, he'll continue to have plenty of doubters. Beyond that, the defensive line could use some help, but overall, this is a Miami squad that is mostly solid, and if players like Tua can step up and have career years, this will be a very good team in 2022.
Team MVP
This team needs plenty of players to stand up in 2022 if they are to be successful, and while Tyreek Hill is a major addition to this squad, it's the 2021 team MVP Jaylen Waddle who will again make the most impactful contributions to the Dolphins. Waddle set the NFL rookie record for receptions in a season in 2021, and with Tyreek pairing with him on the outside, he may see less targets in 2022, but the impact of his catches and Touchdown's should significantly rise throughout the season.
Record Prediction
This Dolphins team certainly has a shot at a Wild Card spot in 2022, but with such a tough AFC and a gruelling schedule to fight through, it's not going to be easy. With a talented squad, the Dolphins can overcome plenty of doubters in 2022, and while it may or may not be enough for the playoffs, this team is going to finish the upcoming campaign with 9 wins.
