NFL Rumors: Eagles & Seahawks Finalizing Trade
The Philadelphia Eagles are trading their wideout J.J. Arcega-Whiteside to the Seattle Seahawks for defensive back Ugo Amadi, sources told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Philadelphia drafted their former receiver in the second round of the 2019 draft (57th overall) and since his attendance in the NFL, his production has been quiet to say the least. In a total of 40 games he was targeted 35 times and caught 16 receptions for 290 yards with just one touchdown.
The eagles are looking to strengthen their defensive core, and after acquiring star wide receiver A.J. Brown during this past offseason to fit alongside Devonta Smith it gives them room to trade away a less productive receiver like Arcega-Whiteside.
Arcega-Whiteside will receive a chance for a fresh start as he arrives in a Seahawks receiving room starring DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. The wideout depth chart also includes the likes of Freddie Swan, Dee Eskridge, and Marquise Godwin.
Amadi came into the league in the fourth round of the 2019 draft and could have potentially been a roster cut for Seattle before ultimately being traded on Monday. Teams are required to trim their rosters to 85 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.
