The injury occurred during drills earlier this afternoon and will likely end Johnson's season. The wide receiver had been a standout all through training camp, and he was generating buzz that he could find his way into a starting role for new head coach Brian Daboll's revamped offense.

A big-bodied receiver standing at 6-6 and 222 pounds out of the University of Texas, Johnson initially entered the league as the 165th overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2020 NFL draft. He was cut following his rookie year and latched on with the Giants last summer, hauling in 11 receptions for 105 yards. He was the Giants leading receiver through the preseason, catching 10 balls for 123 yards in two games.Photo Credit: © John Jones-USA TODAY Sports
