Palmer had been in concussion protocol ever since coming out of the team's second preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys. He'd been generating excitement among Chargers brass all offseason, and was expected to take on an expanded role this coming season. His speedy recovery should position him to pick up right where he left off.

Palmer was picked by the Chargers with the 77th overall pick of the 2021 NFL draft, and he immediately rewarded their faith with a solid rookie season that saw him snag 33 receptions for 353 yards and 4 touchdowns. Born in Brampton, Ontario, he is one of the more promising Canadian-born players in some time, and his ascendence would go a long way to helping quarterback Justin Herbert improve on his breakout sophomore campaign.
