Los Angeles Chargers to Sign 2-Time Super Bowl Champion Running Back
The Los Angeles Chargers may be adding a proven winner to their running backs room. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the team is meeting with former Los Angles Ram and New England Patriot Sony Michel:
Drafted by the New England Patriots 31st overall in the 2018 draft, Michel is probably best remembered for a rookie year in which he rushed for a career-high 931 yards. He followed up his promising regular season with a remarkable postseason run, tallying 331 yards on the ground and an incredible 6 touchdowns in three playoff games for the eventual Super Bowl Champions.
Free agent RB Sony Michel is flying to Los Angeles for a meeting with the #Chargers today, sources say. A surprise release by the #Dolphins, Michel could find work quickly for a team that has looked to bolster its RB room. ✈️

Michel was recently a surprise cut by the Miami Dolphins, but it looks like he may quickly land on his feet. He knows Los Angeles well, having rushed for a team-high 845 yards for last year's Super Bowl champion Rams.

Michel never quite developed into the versatile, three-down back the Patriots were hoping for when they drafted him out of Georgia, but he can still provide value on early downs. Given that the Chargers already sport one of the premier receiving backs in the league with Austin Ekeler, Michel could prove a perfect compliment.
