Former Washington Commanders Trainer Suspended Indefinitely
More bad news for one of the league's most beleaguered franchises. NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero reports the league has handed down an indefinite suspension to former Washinton Commanders head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion for providing painkillers to players without a prescription on "several occasions."
After entering an agreement for deferred prosecution in federal court on Friday, the league quickly came down hard on Vermillion. The Commanders had already begun distancing themselves from their trainer, putting him on administrative leave last year. Ron Rivera revealed today that they had since terminated his employment with the team. The NFL has suspended former Washington athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion indefinitely and launched a joint investigation with the NFLPA. pic.twitter.com/5V8eEAySzh

Vermillion's suspension is another in a long line of indignities endured by the newly crowned Commanders in recent years. A congressional panel recently found evidence that owner Daniel Snyder had interfered with sexual harassment investigations, and that was after the NFL had already levied him a staggering $10 million fine for workplace misconduct.
Fans are rightly exhausted. The Commanders sported the second worst attendance in the league last year and by far the worst percentage of seats sold. Calls for Snyder to sell the team have grown deafening. With the Denver Broncos setting a record sale price for a North American sports team, it may finally be time for Snyder to cash out.
