Former NFL Player And Scout Chooses Who Should Win Steelers QB Battle

Bucky Brooks, a current NFL analyst has been a player and a scout in the NFL, and while it's just one man's opinion, he has certainly weighed in on who he believes should replace legendary Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh. The battle this off-season has been competitive between veteran Mitch Trubisky and 2022 No. 20 overall draft pick Kenny Pickett, and while Trubisky could see time to begin the 2022 season, it's clear that former Pitt QB Pickett is the future of the team.

If you ask Brooks, the future is now, and that means that when the Steelers open their season against division rivals the Cincinnati Bengals, it should be Pickett under centre leading this team. With plenty of weapons, in Chase Claypool, Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Najee Harris and Pat Freirmuth, whoever is at QB will be able to put up numbers, but Brooks believes that Pickett is the guy who can do that most effectively.

With a Head Coach that's never posted a losing season in his 16-years with the Steelers organization, they may decide to go with the veteran to get off to a good start, and then move to the rookie if things get rocky, but if the Steelers believed in Pickett enough to make him the only QB taken in round one, his play shouldn't deter them from making him the Week 1 starter.

Pittsburgh's pre-season finale comes against the Detroit Lions, but then with a few weeks before the season begins, there will be plenty of discussion, and right now, it could go either way.
