Denver Broncos Release Star Punter
As we all know, today is the day where plenty of players will have their NFL dreams dashed, and after a successful two seasons with the Denver Broncos, following a successful stint with the Lions, punter Sam Martin has been released today by the Broncos. After finishing the 2021 season with top-5 ranks in all punting statistics across the board, Denver have released him from the final year of a 3-year, $7.05 million deal signed in 2020, allowing him to seek punting jobs elsewhere for 2022.
#Broncos P Sam Martin is being released today by Denver after indicating he would refuse any pay reduction. He was a top 5 punter statistically in 2021 and set Broncos all-time record for net punting last season. Will have interest.

One notable team with a need for a new punter is the Buffalo Bills, and beyond that, it shouldn't be too hard for Martin to find work, as he's a 9-year veteran of the NFL with plenty of consistent success to show for that time. He may not receive the headlines that other punters do, but if a playoff bound team want to easily fill a spot like this, Martin would be a great candidate, as he is consistent and good at everything needed from a punter.
Ultimately, for some teams it's just time to move on to cheaper, or sometimes potentially better options, and after Denver chose another punter for 2022, Martin is free to find another home and bring a new team some special teams success.
