Browns Defensive Stud Says There's 'No Rivalry' With Former QB
As we all know by this point, the Cleveland Browns recently traded away one of the most successful Quarterbacks in franchise history in Baker Mayfield, opting instead to give a questionable, and guaranteed deal to Deshaun Watson instead. Whatever your thoughts, Mayfield is now in Carolina, who open their season against... you guessed it, the Cleveland Browns.
One may think that this would be a revenge game and maybe Browns players would go after Baker, or maybe Baker will be extra motivated to prove his former team wrong, and while we haven't heard from the latter, the Browns biggest defensive star has gone on record to say that there's no rivalry at all with their former QB.
Baker Mayfield said the opener against the Browns will mean something to him. Myles Garrett feels differently: “There’s no rivalry there between me and him. There’s no rivalry there between the Panthers and the Browns.” #Browns pic.twitter.com/E6oi4KaOAI

"He's my former teammate, but there's no rivalry there between me and him and there's no rivalry there between the Panthers and the Browns," Garrett said of Mayfield on Tuesday. "Yes, he was here, but that doesn't mean I have an added sense of urgency to get to him. I want to play my best, and whatever's in the cards that's what's in for me. But if I can help my team win, if I can put them in the best position to win, I'm going to do that."
The hard feelings may come from the other side, as Mayfield was treated quite unfairly as the team pursued and stood by Watson during all the legal issues, but it's safe to say that Baker doesn't seem like the type to come out and tell the media that he's targeting his former team.
Either way, this is going to be a big time game on opening weekend, and even if Baker is now on the less talented team, he's going to give everything that he can to defeat them, and prove to them that they never should have let him go.
