Brutal News for Seahawks RB Chris Carson
In some sad news, Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Carson is retiring from the NFL due to a nagging neck injury that is not healing as needed. NFL Networks' Ian Rapoport was first to report the news.
The Seahawks essentially made it official when they released Carson with the failed injury designation on Tuesday, a move that was very classy by the organization. By doing so, Carson is now in line to receive several million in injury protection benefits.
Retirement is something Carson is taking very hard, even mentioning to Rapoport he's holding out hope his neck drastically improves and he can avoid making a retirement statement and make his way back to the football field.
The 27-year-old back appeared in four games last season, posting 232 yards and four touchdowns. Seattle re-signed Rashaad Penny and drafted Kenneth Walker as they knew back in June's workouts things weren't looking good for Carson's future.
The Seahawks selected Carson in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft. If this is indeed the end as it appears, he finishes his career with 3,502 yards on the ground, 804 in the air and 31 total scores.
