Cleveland Browns Re-Sign Running Back
The Cleveland Browns continue to solidify depth at all the major positions as the team announced they have signed running back D'Ernest Johnson to a one-year contract. The deal is for $2.43 million, this according to Johnson's agent Drew Rosenhaus.
While not all of the $2.43 million is guaranteed, Johnson will however receive $900,000 without a doubt. The Browns weren't shy this offseason and placed a restricted free agent tender on Johnson, in large part to the job he did filling in for Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt. The new deal gives Cleveland RB depth and gives them more financial flexibility.
The 26-year-old Johnson is trying to become a duel threat as he's looking to build off his 19 receptions and 137 yards from last season. This along with 534 rushing yards, and three touchdowns, as Johnson proved during a game vs. the Denver Broncos when Chubb and Hunt were both out, he's capable of carrying the load. He ran for a career-high 146 yards that week.
Not a bad look for Johnson who has become a polarizing figure for the Browns as the Dog Pound loves him for going from working on a fishing boat to becoming a staple in their backfield.
