NFL Rumors: Panthers Linked To Star WR

Last week, Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers. There have been rumblings that the star wide receiver wants to play closer to home. With this, the Carolina Panthers could be an ideal location for him. 

If the Panthers want to compete in 2022, they have to make several additions before the start of the regular season. Although adding Samuel would be massive for their offense, it would also force them to make a serious upgrade at the quarterback position. Yet, if Samuel wants to play for his hometown team, the Panthers should try to take advantage of this. 

In 16 games last season for the 49ers, Samuel had six touchdowns, 77 receptions, and 1,405 total yards. It was the best season of his career, as he was named to his first Pro Bowl and was also an All-Pro. He is also still quite young, so he could be a long-term part of Carolina's plans if acquired, too. Nevertheless, this is something to keep an eye on as we get closer to the season.
