Patriots Release Linebacker
The New England Patriots have released linebacker Kyle Van Noy.
It's pretty clear that the Patriots decided to release Van Noy as a way to head into the offseason with more money. By releasing him, they are now saving roughly$5 million, so they can use that to address other needs on their roster.
Although it's never a bad thing to gain more money, the Patriots are losing a very solid linebacker in Van Noy. He had himself a strong 2021 campaign, as he had five sacks, 66 tackles, and even a touchdown. It's safe to say that he did well during his reunion with the Patriots, but it wasn't enough for them to keep him around.
There should be a lot of interest in Van Noy around the league. He is a reliable linebacker who has two Super Bowl rings on his resume. That is something that will not be overlooked, so expect to see him find a new home shortly.
