NFL Rumors: Latest on Matt Ryan's Future With Atlanta Falcons
According to reports, the Atlanta Falcons and quarterback Matt Ryan have agreed to reconstruct his contract which will allow the team to create over $12 million in cap space for next season. The report was first reported by Ian Rapoport of the NFL network.
The veteran quarterback is now 36 years old and can still get the job done on the football field. Next season he was due $23.75 million but that number now goes down by roughly $7.5 million for 2022. Ryan's been an all-pro in the past and has a great history with the Falcons, not only on the field but off the field as this will be the third time he's refigured his contract for the best interest of the team.

Ryan is owed a $7.5M roster bonus on March 19th and has a $16.25M salary for 2022.
His $48.662M cap hit for 2022 was the biggest in the NFL headed into the season, Atlanta gets some room
Last season Ryan led the Falcons to a 7-10 record, while he managed to total 3,968 passing yards, threw 20 touchdowns and gave up 12 interceptions. The four-time Pro Bowler completed 67% of his pass attempts and next season will have one less option as wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been suspended for the entire season for betting on NFL games in 2021.
Look for the Falcons to try and land one of the big name free-agent wide receivers as they will need to reconfigure their offense if they want to be successful in 2022. Names like Allen Robinson and Amari Cooper have been linked to Atlanta and would certainly help boost their chances of once again becoming a high-powered threat to win football games.
