NFL Rumors: Cowboys Likely To Release Wide Receiver
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to release Amari Cooper before the start of the new league year.
If Cooper is let go by the Cowboys by March 20th, they will save $16 million. Although they are also trying to trade him, there hasn't been a lot of interest in the wide receiver due to his expensive contract. As a result of this, other teams would rather likely prefer to pursue him once he becomes a free agent.
In 15 games this season, Cooper had eight touchdowns, 68 receptions, and 865 yards. Overall, it was another solid year for the 27-year-old, but his expensive deal has made him expendable in the eyes of Dallas.
It will be interesting to see where Cooper ends up from here. He is still a productive receiver and could provide a strong team with another scoring threat. Alas, at the end of the day, it's becoming rather clear that he won't be back in Dallas.
