NFL Rumors: Baker Mayfield Has Preferred Destination
With the Cleveland Browns acquiring Deshaun Watson, it means that Baker Mayfield will find himself traded shortly. If the 26-year-old has it his way, he will be joining the Indianapolis Colts, according to Jeff Howe.
The Colts just so happen to be on the hunt for a new quarterback, as they just traded Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders. Although he had some decent moments with the team, they are looking to make an upgrade at the position.
Mayfield is coming off of a down season for his standards, however. In 14 starts, he threw 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and 3,010 yards. With that, he had a 6-8 record as their starter, so it was just an all-around underwhelming year for him. However, he was very solid in 2020, as he threw 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions in 16 games. He will be looking to have success like that next season - whether it's with the Colts or elsewhere.
Nevertheless, this is an interesting development. Let's see if he gets his wish and ends up in Indianapolis soon.
