Falcons Wide Receiver Suspended For 2022 Season
Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Calvin Ridley has been suspended for at least the entire 2022 season for betting on games.
The NFL noted that Ridley bet on NFL games during a five-day span back in November. The 27-year-old was away from the team at that point in time, as he was on the non-football illness list.
Ridley's name has been in the rumor mill, as Falcons owner Arthur Blank noted that the receiver was seeking a fresh start. However, after this bombshell, no trade involving him will occur. It is a shame for both parties, as teams like the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns were expressing interest in him.
Ridley played in just five games with the Falcons this past season. In them, he recorded two touchdowns, 31 receptions, and 281 yards.
Nevertheless, Ridley's actions have now taken at least a year of his professional career away from him.
