NFL Rumors: Panthers Interested In Vikings Quarterback
The Carolina Panthers are looking for a quarterback and have reportedly called the Minnesota Vikings about Kirk Cousins.
This season was a rough one for the Panthers, and a major reason behind that was their inability to find a legitimate starting quarterback. They went on to finish the year with a 5-12 record and were last place in the NFC South because of it. For next season, they will be looking to upgrade from their current trio of Cam Newton, Sam Darnold, and Phillip Walker.
Although the Panthers want Cousins, it's hard to determine if the Vikings will move him. Unless they are able to find an upgrade at the QB position themselves, it seems like an unnecessary move for them to make. Minnesota just finished this campaign with an 8-9 record, so they should be looking to improve their roster rather than worsening it.
In 16 games this season, Cousins had 33 touchdowns, seven interceptions, and 4,221 total yards. This kind of play allowed him to be named to his third Pro Bowl. It was a strong campaign for the 33-year-old, so Minnesota may prefer to keep him around from here.
Alas, no matter what happens, it's clear that Carolina wants the veteran as their starter.
