NFL Rumors: Despite GM's Endorsement of Baker Mayfield, Browns Linked To Top QBs
The upcoming NFL offseason has the potential to be one of the wildest we have seen, as a number of key players - quarterbacks, mostly - are rumored to be available for trade. One such quarterback who was rumored to have an uncertain future with his team is the Cleveland Browns' Baker Mayfield after seeing his numbers drop across the board this season. Despite his struggles, general manager Andrew Berry spoke on the situation, saying he fully expects Mayfield to be back next season according to NFL.com.
Gregg Rosenthal isn't so sure that's a ringing endorsement, as much as an admittance that making trades in the NFL is complicated, and the team may be forced to put their playoff hopes in Mayfield next season. Rosenthal points out that the Browns have the cap space and resources to make a move for either the Seattle Seahawks Russell Wilson or the Houston Texans' Deshaun Watson. Rosenthal goes on to say in regards to a potential trade for either:
I would not put it past this front office to be bold because the Browns have championship-level parts, especially along both lines.
The Browns were said to be interested in Watson as recently as December, so maybe they can figure something out this offseason.
Stay tuned for the latest concerning Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Baker Mayfield, and the Cleveland Browns.
