Carolina Panthers Make Interesting Decision Regarding Head Coach
The Carolina Panthers have reportedly considered a number of options but appear to be headed to keep head coach Matt Rhule under contract for the 2022 NFL season.
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN was first to report the news as things have been awfully dramatic for the Panthers this season. From the Cam Newton saga to their owner coming out and admitting he wish he didn't sign Rhule to such a lucrative deal, it seems like it's anything goes in Carolina.
Rhule has shown in the past he's capable of turning teams around but that was in the NCAA with both Baylor and Temple, it hasn't worked out quite the same so far with the Panthers. The team has already moved on from offensive coordinator Joe Brady this season and we've all seen that the Sam Darnold trade has yet to work out. Newton 2.0 hasn't worked either as the polarizing quarterback is 0-5 as a starter this season.
Some will blame all the piled up losses on the fact star running back Christian McCaffrey hasn't managed to stay on the field the past couple of seasons. The team hasn't made the playoffs since the 2017 season.
So far Rhule is 5-11 as an NFL head coach and you have to give him credit for keep the belief alive with the Panthers locker room. The team looks to end the season on a good note, but will be in tough against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
