Carolina Panthers Dealt Horrible Injury News
The Carolina Panthers were dealt some brutal news as star running back Christian McCaffrey will be heading back to the injured reserve, this time for good as he's been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
CMC suffered an ankle injury and was spotted in a walking boot after Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins. The MRI revealed that he did indeed have a severe ankle sprain and was immediately ruled out for the rest of the season.
It's been a battle for the Panthers back as he can't seem to stay healthy enough to stay on the field. McCaffrey also missed a number of games in 2020 due to multiple injuries. This season the Panthers back missed five games after Week 3 where he hurt his hamstring. Since returning in Week 9, CMC has collected 241 rushing yards, 180 receiving yards and one score in those four games.
This is a major loss for the Panthers who currently sit at 5-7 and can't seem to get things right with Cam Newton at the helm. Look for Chuba Hubbard to take over the McCaffrey and be given the majority of the snaps in his absence. So far this season, the rookie Hubbard has collected 427 rushing yards, 152 receiving yards and has scored three TD's.
We'll see what kind of production comes out of Hubbard and the Panthers as they look to capitalize on their outside chance of making the playoffs.
