Done Deal: Panthers and Patriots Complete Trade
The Carolina Panthers weren't joking when they said expect us to be in on everyone. The team has completed a deal with the New England Patriots, acquiring cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
Gilmore was recently released by the Pats, in a move that left a ton of people scratching their heads, including some of Gilmore's current and past teammates. The deal was worked on late Tuesday night and made official on Wednesday.
Gilmore and the Pats were at odds because of contract talks. The two sides had been trying for weeks to get a deal done, but to this point weren't able. The four time Pro Bowler and 2019 defensive player of the year can be activated for Week 6. He's currently on the physically unable to play list.

The return in the deal sees the Pats end up with a sixth-round selection in 2023. A great deal for both teams as the Patriots were going to lose Gilmore for nothing, and the Panthers land one of the best CB's in the league for one draft pick.
