Steelers Dealt Brutal News Ahead of Week 3 Matchup vs Bengals
The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday as Week 3 is upon us. The team is going to have to pull off the victory without their best defensive player as pass-rusher T.J Watt has been ruled out with a groin injury.
Watt is the heart beat of the Steelers defense, and this will certainly be a huge blow to the team. He was initially listed as questionable and the team was at one point rather optimistic Watt would play. Now as we know, that's not the case. The team has decided they better be safer than sorry, as Watt recently signed a $112 million deal.
Watt met up with ESPN's Brooke Pryor and had this to say on being banged up:
I think it was a tweak here or there and then tried to push through it. Just trying to be smart at the end of the day, ultimately. It's a long season.
Watt is the NFL's highest paid defender and is having himself a good start to the 2021 season with three sacks and two forced fumbles through the team's first two games. Look for him to take this week off and come back strong as ever in Week 4 as the Steelers are hoping to improve on their 1-1 record to start the campaign.
