Rumor: Frank Gore to San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers need some help at running back and it sounds like there could be a reunion in store. Head coach Kyle Shanahan commented on the injuries piling up and how Frank Gore could become an option for the team.
The team has lost starter Raheem Mostert for the season after injuring his knee, meanwhile in Week 2 Jamycal Hasty went down with an ankle injury. Now the team isn't sure about the status of rookies Trey Sermon and Elijah Mitchell so if they aren't healthy enough to play, the 49ers may have no choice.
Shanahan met with the media Wednesday and had this to say:
We’ve never fully ruled that out. I don’t know exactly where he is right now, but I’ve got a number of people in here who have a relationship with him. If that time ever comes that we need to do that and he wants to do it then I would never rule it out. It alters a lot because you have to make sure you give different options in every situation. Especially when there’s a lot of unknown. There’s a chance we might be only be down one compared to last week. There’s a chance there might be a whole new group, which would be down to our sixth on the year. So, you have to plan for everything and that’s what you do
Somebody find Frank Gore and get him his cleats...
